Dr. S. Raja Rao is presently working as Senior Regional Director in the Port Blair Regional Centre, Andaman & Nicobar Islands. He joined IGNOU in 1989 as a Lecturer of Public Administration and later became the Assistant Regional Director, Deputy Director and subsequently he became the Regional Director. During his 30 years of service in IGNOU, Dr. Raja Rao worked in Shimla, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune and Raghunathganj, Vishakapatnam prior to joining Port Blair Regional Centre. He is one of the reviewers for Indian Journal of Open Learning (IJOL) and Kakatiya Journal of Distance Education (KJDE).
Dr. Raja Rao has published papers in National and International refereed journals and contributed book chapters. His research work “The Social Basis of Distance Education: Strategies for Inclusive Growth” published in Asian Journal of Distance Education (Online Journal: http://www.asianjde.org), Vol. 6. No. 2 pp 58-65, has been adjudged as the Best Research Paper in IGNOU 20th Convocation held on 28th February 2009 and awarded University Medal..
Dr. Raja Rao did his M. Phil and Ph. D from Hyderabad Central University and PG Diploma in Distance Education and M.A. in Distance Education from IGNOU. He did M.A. in Public Administration from Andhra University. He is actively involved in the professional organizations like Indian Distance Education Association (IDEA) as a Life Member and Secretary (2006-2007) and Life Member in New Public Administration Society of India (NEPASI).
Dr. Nurul Hasan
Assistant Regional Director
Dr. NurulHasan is presently working as Regional Director (I/c) Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Center Port Blair. He has joined IGNOU in 2011 as Assistant Regional Director. He has also served Uttar Pardesh Remote Sensing Applications Center, Lucknow and U.P. Irrigation department at Lucknow in various capacities for over 15 years.
He has obtained Masters in Science, M.Phil and Doctoral degree in Geology from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and also obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Distance Education (PGDDE), IGNOU, Diploma in Turkish language and Diploma in Computer Applications from Ambedkar Computer Application Training Scheme (DOEACC, Department of Electronics, Govt. of India), Lucknow.  His Core discipline is Geology with specialization in Hydrogeology/Environmental Monitoring & assessment Studies/Water Resources Evaluation and Remote Sensing, Groundwater &surface water studies.
Main experience and exposure for about 20 years including 05 years of research experience has been in the Assessment, Management, Development, evaluation, Quality assessment of Groundwater in the Gangetic plains of Uttar Pradesh. Conjunctive use studies of surface and Groundwater in canal command areas has been one of the main focus. I have been also involved in the quality assessment of surface water and soil quality under Environmental assessment, management and monitoring .He is involved in the field of Distance and open learning system.
DrHasan has published / presented 0ver 20 papers in International and National journals/Conferences. His area of specialization is Hydrogeology/Environmental Monitoring & assessment Studies and Distance & Open Learning System.
Sanjiv Kumar Hira

Shri. Sanjiv Kumar Hira is presently working as Section Officer (Sr. Scale) in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Center Port Blair. He has joined IGNOU in 2009. He has assigned the duties and responsibilities of Preparation of Budget BE & RE of RC; All the Finance and accounts related works of RC and LSCs; Preparation of annual accounts; Preparation of Audit replies for both Internal and External; Verification and processing of study centre bills; Updation of service books of RC staff; Tender related works of RC; Renewal of agreement for RC / Warehouse/ Manpower Agency; Purchasing of stationeries for RC and LSCs; Preparation of salary for the staff of RC and LSCs; Monitoring Reconciliation of Plan and Non Plan accounts on monthly basis; Verification of Cash Book preparation of budget; Custody of all the cheque books/finance related files, registers; Works related to construction of RC building; Monitoring maintenance of cheque cum bill register; Income Tax& TDS related matters of RC; Regular Quarterly e-filing report; Preparation of financial report for HQ, New Delhi; Ensuring timely payment of all bills, dues of RC; Reply on DO letter pertains to Finance & Administration; Monitoring Expenditure control register; Any other work(s) assigned by RD I/c time-to-time.
Joji K Simon

Shri. Joji K Simon is presently working as Assistant Executive (Data Processing) in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Center Port Blair. He has joined IGNOU in 2009 as Data Entry Operator. He has assigned the duties and responsibilities of Monitoring & up-keeping of computer systems & related items-AMC etc.; Computer related consumables, repairs & maintenance work(s) etc.; Landline; modem; Projector; internet, web cast; related activities etc.; Change of RC/SC/Name/Address/Elective courses; Issue of NOC/Field work Certificate/Course Completion Certificate ; Database Management; Entry of assignments/ Practical/ Project marks; Entry of offline admission / Re-registration/TEE forms; Issue of I-Card (Online and Offline); Sending regular SMS/e-mail to learners; Handling and replying of student grievances on student portal; Preparing of Banners/Posters/ PPT & other promotional materials; Preparing online weekly/monthly reports for Headquarters; All kind of exam related activities; emergency QPs; Change of exam centre etc.; Printing of award lists/ acknowledgement slips/ other SC stationeries, etc.; Attending student problems/queries; Any other work(s) assigned by RD I/c time-to-time.

Ms. Swaraja Laxmi Bai is presently working as Executive Assistant in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Center Port Blair. She has joined IGNOU in 2009 as Assistant. She has assigned the duties and responsibilities of Receiving the DDs of Admission Section & Data Entry Section; Processing of SC bills and other regular payments of RC with proper noting and drafting; Maintaining Cash Book and Reconciliation of Fee & SOP Account; Remittance of Fee/Convocation fund to IGNOU HQ, New Delhi; Preparation of Financial Report pertains to FEE A/c; Depositing the DDs as immediately as possible into bank accounts; Reimbursement of Fee for SC/ST; Maintaining error free financial records for avoiding audit objections; Any other work(s) assigned by RD I/c time-to-time.
Asma Bibi
Semi Professional Assistant
Ms. Asma Bibi is presently working as Semi- Professional Assistant in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Center Port Blair. She has joined IGNOU in 2009. She has assigned the duties and responsibilities of Maintaining and updating RC library/accession register /Audio-Video register records; Conducting of Video classes on Saturdays; Maintaining and updating evaluated projects/ internship records/dissertation work reports at Library; Upkeep and maintenance of TV; Radios; DVD Player; Amply speaker. Ms. Sangita Mandal is presently working as Assistant in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Center Port Blair. She has joined IGNOU in 2009 as Junior Assistant –cum-Typist.
