IGNOU, Regional Centre, Port Blair celebrated its 38th Convocation

The 38th Convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held on Wednesday, 05th March, 2025 at 11.00 AM. The Guest of Honour Dr. Chandra Bhusahan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration has graced the convocation function at IGNOU, Regional Centre, Port Blair opposite to Air Cargo Complex, VIP Road. 951 students are eligible to receive their degree /diplomas for 38th Convocation out of which 181 have attended the convocation function. Large number of guests, parents along with their wards were attended during the Convocation. The Guest of Honour Dr Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary delivered the convocation address at this occasion. He appreciated the work done by IGNOU Regional Centre, Port Blair for the last two decades in these remote islands. He explained learners the importance of a degree and how it will be going to help them in future endeavors. He emphasized how earning the knowledge can open doors for them in the future to achieve greater things. The special guest Shree. P. K. Paul, IFS, Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Department of Environment & Forests, A & N Administration addressed the learners and congratulated them on their success. The Regional Director, IGNOU, Regional Centre, Port Blair Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Jacob has delivered the welcome address and presented report about academic activities happened in the last one year. He welcomed the Guest of Honour and the Special Guest, other dignitaries, learners and their parents on this occasion of 38th Convocation. He informed that this the first time convocation is being organized in its own building. He briefed that one International Conference, One National Seminar, Seven National Webinars, Induction Meetings, Academic Coordinator Meetings and other activities have been organized in the Regional Centre and Study Centres.
