IGNOU 37th Convocation Celebrated

 The 37th Convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held on Tuesday, 20th February, 2024 at Port Blair.  The Guest of Honour Col. Arvind Varma, IPoS, Postmaster General, has graced the Convocation function at TGCE Auditorium, Port Blair.  958 students are eligible to receive their degree /diplomas for 37th Convocation out of which 98 have attended the convocation function. Large number of parents along with their wards were attended during the Convocation.  

The Guest of Honour Col. Arvind Varma, IPoS, in his speech emphasized the importance of acquiring continuous knowledge to upgrade the skills. Further he appreciated the contribution of RC Port Blair for promoting opportunities through ODL system to the Islanders. The Guest of Honour congratulated all the pass out graduates and wished them luck for the future.

 Dr.RVR Murthy, Regional Director welcomed the gathering and listed the achievements of the Regional Centre during one year. Further he informed about the new programmes launched by IGNOU recently and also highlighted the commencement of 4 year degree programmes as per NEP-2020. Dr.RVR Murthy in his report further stated that one of the significant features of IGNOU Regional Centre Port Blair is that the women enrolment is more than the male counter parts.  Dr. Sunil Jacob, Designated Regional Director, proposed vote of thanks. Dr. Sudarshan Raja, Assistant Regional Director, Section Officer Sanjiv Kumar Hira and all the Regional Cetnre Staff were present during the programme.
