IGNOU Equips General Public to Manage Disaster

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands has already experienced the natural disaster in the year 2004. The Disaster management operations are normally handled by Govt. functionaries, NGOs and other uniform service personnel. The Disaster Management Education is necessary for general also. To provide disaster management education to all, the Indira Gandhi National Open University offers Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management and Certificate in Disaster Management. The course is highly useful to functionaries of military, para-military, Police, Home Guards, and Civil Defence personnel, besides general public. IGNOU is able to provide disaster management education to all with a target of reaching “one person, from every family, with disaster management education”. The Port Blair Regional Centre is taking necessary steps to create awareness about disaster  management education in A & N Islands.
